چکیده
Biomineralization is an emerging biotechnology for subsurface engineering applications like remediating leaky wellbores. The process relies on ureolysis to induce precipitation of calcium carbonate in undesired flow paths. In geologic storage CO2, there a potential leakage and low pH conditions, thus, ureolysis-induced (UICP) was tested at field scale seal channel the wellbore cement annulus presence CO2-affected brine. Conventional oil methods were used deliver UICP-promoting fluids downhole treatment zone approximately 1000 feet (305 m) below ground surface (bgs). Over 4 days, 242 L (64 gal) heat-treated Sporosarcina pasteurii cultures (22 bailers) 329 (87 urea – chloride solution (30 injected. UICP resulted 94% reduction injectivity ultrasonic well logging showed noticeable increase percentage solids outside casing, including more than 30 m (100 ft) above injection point. Subsequent 11 months after demonstration that significant portion new remained but compromised following sustained pumping. results this experiment suggest can be promoted brine pathways. Additional research required optimize long term integrity ensure CO2 carbon sequestration scenarios.

Calcium Carbonate Precipitation for CO2 Storage and Utilization: A Review of the Carbonate Crystallization and Polymorphism
The transformation of CO2 into a precipitated mineral carbonate through an ex situ mineral carbonation route is considered a promising option for carbon capture and storage (CCS) since (i) the captured CO2 can be stored permanently and (ii) industrial wastes (i.e., coal fly ash, steel and stainless-steel slags, and cement and lime kiln dusts) can be recycled and converted into value-added carbo...
متن کاملBiotic and abiotic effects on CO2 sequestration during microbially-induced calcium carbonate precipitation.
In this study, CO2 sequestration was investigated through the microbially-induced calcium carbonate precipitation (MICP) process with isolates obtained from a cave called 'Cave Without A Name' (Boerne, TX, USA) and the Pamukkale travertines (Denizli, Turkey). The majority of the bacterial isolates obtained from these habitats belonged to the genera Sporosarcina, Brevundimonas, Sphingobacterium ...

متن کاملSize-dependent calcium carbonate precipitation induced microbiologically in aerobic granules
Calcium and ash accumulation in aerobic granules treating organic wastewater was investigated systematically in this study. It was found that ash content of granular sludge reached 43% at stable state of reactor operation with calcium carbonate precipitation as the main cause. Since granular sludge in the reactor at the steady state was the mixture of granules with different sizes, granules in ...
متن کاملProtein-Mediated Precipitation of Calcium Carbonate
Calcium carbonate is an important component in exoskeletons of many organisms. The synthesis of calcium carbonate was performed by mixing dimethyl carbonate and an aqueous solution of calcium chloride dihydrate. The precipitation product was characterized by means of scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and Fourier transform infrar...
